On Thursday I had the opportunity to go to Diner En Blanc with Sofitel Hotel! This was a unique experience that greatly elevated Diner en Blanc for me.
Some of you may be asking, “What is ‘Diner En Blanc’ anyway?” Here is a brief history courtesy of Wikipedia, “The Dîner en Blanc concept began in Paris in 1988 when Frenchman François Pasquier invited a group of friends to an elegant outdoor dinner at the Bois de Boulogne, asking them to dress in white so they could find each other.” Now it is in more than 80 cities around the globe! During the event, everyone dresses in white, and descends upon a secret location for a chic popup picnic.
What makes the experience with Sofitel unique is I didn’t have to bring my own table, chairs, and food for the picnic. I just had to dress in my best white outfit, and prepare myself for a wonderful evening, with no additional worries.

So here’s my personal experience with “Sofitel En Blanc”, which also included spending a night at the hotel. l arrived at the hotel around 4pm to check into my room. After a smooth process, I went up to the 12th floor where I walked into a gorgeous room with a stellar view of the city! At this point I got into my Diner en Blanc outfit.
The hotel began their Sofitel En Blanc welcoming toast at 5pm the which included champagne, and tasty light bites such as Cheesesteak Eggrolls, Proscuitto wrapped Mozzerella, and Bruschetta.
After enjoying the bites and bubbles, the hotel had trolleys come to pick us up and take us directly to the secret Diner En Blanc location. This part was something that really set this experience apart. We didn’t have to wait for a message directing us to a meet up point, from where we would still need to walk to the actual location of the dinner in 90+ degree humid weather. We didn’t have to carry heavy tables and chairs and food. We didn’t have to do anything. We simply hopped onto the trolley, and the driver took us directly to the destination of the dinner.
Once we arrived, our table was already set up and beautifully appointed and decorated. We were right by the river, and had such a gorgeous view. The food was also already prepared, and we had waitresses and waiters attend to us throughout the evening. Literally all we had to do was simply enjoy the atmosphere and the experience.
What made our time even more special was a couple from our group got engaged as we were all lighting our sparkers toward the end of the evening. It was so wonderful.
After the amazing time we had at dinner, Sofitel had the trolleys come back to pick us up and take us back to the hotel for the official Diner En Blanc afterparty.
The party had the amazing, DJ SHELLY, and her music selection was awesome! I was dancing pretty much until about 1am. It was so much fun! Afterward it was nice to be able to take an elevator back to my room to go to sleep, after dancing with friends all night.
The next morning I finished my stay at Sofitel Philly with breakfast. They offer both the option of entrees or a breakfast buffet depending on what you’re in the mood for. I tried their Smoked Salmon & Spinach Eggs Benedict from the entree menu, and honestly it was so good! It’s definitely a dish you should order if you’re staying at Sofitel, and want to eat breakfast at the hotel.
All in all, I had a great time experiencing Diner En Blanc with Sofitel. Between the accommodations, the transport, and the food, Sofitel made the event so elegant and easy. It’s definetly one of the best ways to experience Diner En Blanc!
